I was one of the artists asked to decorate Wihaan Strelizia Grandus. I chose blue and set about discovering how I would present this work.
Since my excursion in early spring to look at horticulture and rivers in Hawkes Bay I’ve been reflecting on farms, food production and the seeds business in NZ. I imagined the Wihaan as high profile, strategic showcase temple for NZ’s agri-tech to promote industrialisation of agriculture, protected by the food safety bill. The bill isn’t aimed at potential health risks from GMO’s, pesticides, nanoparticles or value-added foods such as exquisitely perfumed maize
A week after installation in the park I found that the perfumed corn had been taken away and the safety fence had been destroyed as shown in the photos on Wihaan Strelizia Grandus
